The Wave: Algernon Blackwood

One of the great things in life, for me is the discovery of ephemera found within old books.

 In this case it was inside The Wave, subtitled An Egyptian Aftermath by Algernon Blackwood, and originally published in 1916. At first it seems to be a random clipping of newspaper ads from about 1916.


If you look closely, you will notice the cellotape has worn out over time, and if you carefully turn over the paper…


…a previous owner had inserted a newspapper cutting of a wave. I should really look in to the origins of this image one day.
